What the maker published about the Haas UMC-350HD
For the UMC-350HD, Haas joined the 40-taper DM-1 drill/mill center with its TRT210 dual-axis rotary to get a five-axis vertical machining center. Haas presents it for small parts cut in 3+2 positioning or with all five axes moving at once. X, Y and Z strokes are 15.0 in, 14.0 in and 12.0 in. The 9.10 in platter accepts parts that swing up to 14.5 in. C turns a full 360° at up to 100 °/sec, and B tilts at up to 80 °/sec. Air/oil injection serves the inline direct-drive spindle, which reaches 10000 rpm and 15.0 hp and gives 46.0 ft-lbf at 1700 rpm in a CT or BT 40 taper. Chip-to-chip time with the 18+1 side-mount changer averages 1.6 s; tools may be 2.5 in across and 7 in long. Each linear axis rapids at 2400 ipm, and programmed cutting goes up to 1200 ipm. Standard items include wireless probing, a 55 gal coolant tank, rigid tapping, and Dynamic Work Offsets with Tool Center Point Control.
