What the maker published about the Haas ST-20SSY
On its archived spec page Haas gives the ST-20SSY a Y axis: Y-axis travel is ±2.00 in (±50.8 mm), with Y thrust of 2300 lb and a 472 in/min rapid that it shares with X. Live tooling and C-axis control are standard. Mounted in a hybrid BOT/VDI turret of 24 stations, those live tools reach 3000 rpm, peaking at 195 in-lb of torque, 75 in-lb continuously, on VDI40 holders. Rated 5 hp (3.7 kW), the main spindle's C axis positions to 0.01° and is locked by a 14.4 in brake with 1000 lb of clamp force. The main spindle itself is a 30 hp, 5000 rpm unit carrying an 8.3 in chuck on its A2-6 nose. Maximum capacity is 10 x 21 in, with 9.3 in of X travel and a 1200 in/min Z rapid.

Haas puts the ST-20SSY with its Y-axis lathes; its overview names high-torque live tooling, a C axis and 2.00 in of Y travel either side of center, so a part held in the 8.3 in chuck can be milled and drilled as well as turned.
