What the maker published about the Haas SL-10

Haas built the SL-10 as a compact CNC lathe, and gives its floor space as 6.5 x 4.5 ft (2 x 1.4 m). The page pitches it as a second-operation lathe, a start-up shop's entry into CNC turning, or an extra lathe where floor room is tight. Parts may turn to 11 in (280 mm) across and 14 in (356 mm) long, and the swing over the front apron is 16.25 in (413 mm). Standard equipment is a hydraulic chuck of 6.5 in (165 mm) plus a bolt-on turret with 12 positions. Spindle speed reaches 6000 rpm from a vector drive rated 15 hp (11.2 kW) at peak, and the A2-5 nose passes bar stock up to 1.75 in (44 mm). Haas lists a tool presetter, a parts catcher, a chip auger and a tailstock as options, and an add-on Servo Bar 300 bar feeder for running without an operator.

What the Haas SL-10 is used for

In its WESTEC 2001 release, Haas pitched the SL-10 at small turned parts that would waste a big machine, with full-size features in a compact frame and a Big Bore version whose A2-6 spindle passes bar up to 2 in.
