What the maker published about the Doosan VC 630/5AX
For simultaneous five-axis cutting, Doosan Infracore set up the VC 630/5AX as a vertical machine around a 630 mm round table rated for 500 kg. That table turns a full 360 degrees as the C axis and tilts through 150 degrees as the A axis, between +30 and -120. Linear strokes are 650 mm in X, 765 mm in Y and 520 mm in Z, with rapids of 40, 40 and 36 m/min. Parts up to 730 mm across and 500 mm tall fit within the swing. A built-in spindle reaches 12000 r/min, or 20000 r/min as an option, on an ISO #40 taper; the standard spindle gives 204 N·m of torque at 25% duty. Forty tools come standard and magazines of 60 to 121 tools are optional. The base control is a FANUC 31i-5; Heidenhain iTNC 530 and Siemens 840D sl were options. A version with a two-pallet rotary shuttle changer carries 500 x 500 mm pallets. The standard machine weighs 12500 kg.

Doosan's 2015 VC 630/5AX brochure pitches the machine at five-axis work done in one setting, for both high-speed and heavy cutting, and gives finish-cutting examples on an aluminum impeller 290 mm across, an aluminum hinge fitting and a tire mold.
