What the maker published about the Doosan PUMA 2100Y
Doosan Machine Tools gave the PUMA 2100Y a Y axis of 105 mm, rapiding at 10 m/min, on top of an X stroke of 260 mm and a Z stroke of 590 mm; X and Z both rapid at 30 m/min. Work up to 406 mm in diameter and 520 mm long can be turned, and bar stock passes up to 65 mm. With a belt drive the A2#6 spindle reaches 4500 rpm, while a built-in spindle, listed only for the Y-axis models, reaches 5000 rpm; the belt-drive main motor is rated 18.5/15 kW, and the C axis indexes in 0.001 degree steps. Twelve tool stations come standard on the turret, and a 16-station BMT 55P turret was an option on the Y-axis models. Driven tools run to 5000 rpm on a 5.5 kW motor. The tailstock carries an 80 mm quill with an MT#4 live taper. The 2100Y weighs 5450 kg.

Doosan's 2016 PUMA 2100/2600/3100 brochure lists the work the Y axis opens up on models such as the 2100Y: grooves finished with the Y axis, cuts on several faces and milling at an eccentric position, alongside end milling, face milling, drilling and tapping with fewer resets of the work.
