What the maker published about the DMG MORI MT 2000 S/Z
Mori Seiki's MT2000SZ, a multi-axis turning center, combined two headstocks, a tool spindle that swings ±120° on a B axis, and a second turret. Headstock 1 turns 4,500 min-1 at most, accepts 65 mm bar and carries a 15/11 kW motor (30 min/continuous), with 22/15 kW as an option. Headstock 2 reaches 6,000 min-1, passes 45 mm bar and is rated 7.5/5.5 kW, with 15/15/15 kW optional. Taking KM 63 or Coromant Capto C6 holders, the tool spindle has a ceiling of 6,000 min-1 (10,000 optional) on a 7.5/1.5 kW drive, with 20 tools stored and magazines of 40, 60, 120 or 180 as options. Turret 2 holds 12 tools and spins rotary ones at 4,000 min-1; 6,000 was the optional figure. Diameter limits are 550 mm at the tool spindle (540 mm with Capto C6) and 280 mm at turret 2; between both chucks, length reaches 1,020 mm. Y moves ±80 mm. Rapids reach 24 m/min on X and Z and 16 m/min on Y.

What the DMG MORI MT 2000 S/Z is used for
In its 2002 product guide Mori Seiki puts the MT2000SZ among its MT multi-axis turning centers, which follow turning with true milling in the same chucking, so the part needs no changeover between the two steps.

Mori Seiki's own site carried a spec page for the MT2000SZ by September 2001, putting the machine in production no later than 2001.
