What the maker published about the Haas TM-3

Haas's TM-3 is a toolroom mill with three modes: manual, full CNC, or the two combined. Its X stroke is 40", with 20" on Y and 16" on Z. Work clamps to a 57.75" by 14.5" table that has 3 standard T-slots and carries up to 1000 lb spread evenly. A 40-taper vector drive spindle, belt driven at direct speed, turns to 4000 rpm and is rated 7.5 hp (5.6 kW). Tools are released by push button, and a 10-pocket or 20-pocket automatic changer is optional. With the control's prompt-driven programming system, offsets, drill and tap cycles, pocket milling and engraving can be set up without G-code, and a recorder function stores operation sequences for repeat parts. Brushless servomotors move every axis on a one-piece cast-iron base and column. The standard list names a 15" color LCD monitor, a USB port and 1 MB of memory. A coolant system, a fourth-axis drive and a hard drive with Ethernet are options. It accepts single-phase or three-phase supply.

What the Haas TM-3 is used for

Haas brought out the TM-3 for toolrooms and for shops moving over to CNC, a mill that pairs the simple handling of a manual mill with a Haas CNC control, with a table that holds several vises, chucks or rotary tables and T-slots for clamping oversized or odd-shaped parts.

When the Haas TM-3 was built

Haas introduced the TM-3 no later than March 2006: a company press release that the Internet Archive saved on March 12, 2006 presents the TM-3 as a new toolroom mill with more travel than the TM-2.
