Haas Automation's TL-4 is a large-capacity CNC flatbed toolroom lathe. Its spindle has an A1-20 nose at the front and another at the rear, and it takes two chucks of up to 25 in (635 mm). Through the spindle runs a 10.81 in (275 mm) bore. Maximum capacity is 35 in by 80 in (889 x 2032 mm), with 35 in of swing. A 55 hp (41 kW) drive works through a 2-speed gearbox, and spindle speed peaks at 500 rpm. The tailstock is manual, and coolant capacity is 100 gallons (379 liters). Programs can be built in the Haas programming system without any G-code, and a thread-repair screen for jobs typical of oilfield work is built in. The control stores 1 MB of programs, displays on a 15 in color LCD monitor and has a USB port. The machine came with no workholding, toolpost or toolholders, and the lathe runs on three-phase power only.
