Haas widened the swing of its TL-3 toolroom lathe to create the TL-3W, which runs under CNC or as a manual lathe and swings 30 in (762 mm). Work up to 30 in in diameter and 60 in long fits the machine, and 60 in separates its centers. The X axis has 16 in of movement and the Z axis 60 in, with Z rapids of 150 in/min. A 30 hp (22.4 kW) rating and a 2-speed gearbox drive the A2-6 spindle to 1800 rpm, and its bore is 3.50 in. Haas equipped it with a programming system for stepping from manual work into automatic modes and on to full CNC, plus 1 MB of program memory, a USB port and a color LCD of 15 in. The lathe came without workholding, a toolpost or toolholders, and only a three-phase supply will run it.
