Tsugami builds the VA2 as a compact three-axis vertical machining center. Its integral spindle uses a 7/24 taper S20T interface, which the brochure also calls a 20 taper, and spans 300 to 30,000 min-1, with 28,000 min-1 given as the normal top speed. The spindle motor is rated 9.0/5.5 kW on its 10 minute and continuous ratings. A side mount changer with 14 pockets rides on the Z axis together with the spindle, so a tool change happens directly above the part, and the chip-to-chip time is 1.35 seconds. Tools are loaded at the front of the machine instead of through the spindle. Rapid traverse on X, Y and Z is 40 m/min, and the table measures 500 x 330 mm. Tool breakage detection appears among the listed features, and the base is described as compact with a long Z stroke.
