Mazak describes the FJV-250 II as a machining center of double column form, filed under vertical machines, and as a development of the No. 40 spindle models in its FJV series. Thirty tools sit in its automatic changer, all on a 40 size shank. The spindle runs at up to 12000 min-1 from a 22 kW / 30.0 HP motor rated over 15 minutes. Movement spans 1020 mm (40.16 in) in X, 510 mm (20.08 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.11 in) in Z, over a table of 1200 mm by 550 mm. Mazak says the machine handles work ranging from nonferrous aircraft parts through to dies and molds, the mold side relying on an optional die and mold kit. It also calls the double column structure Mazak's own design.
