Part of Mazak's FH series, the FH-8800 horizontal machining center cuts on 800 X 800mm pallets, with 4850 lbs as the table's load limit. Mounted work can measure 49.2" in diameter by 49.2" in height. The X, Y and Z strokes measure 1300mm, 1100mm and 1000mm, with a 1575 IPM rapid rate shared by all three. As standard, the CAT#50 spindle turns 10000rpm and gives 387 ft/lbs of torque; the options were 7,000rpm and 867 ft/lbs. Its main motor produces 50HP for 30 minute periods and 40HP continuously. Forty tools fit the standard magazine, and optional magazines ran from 80 up to 237 tools. The table indexes in 1 degree steps as standard, or to a thousandth of a degree with the optional NC rotary table. Pallets swap in 13 seconds, and a chip to chip tool change takes 5.5 seconds.
