What the maker publishes about the current Makino F8
Makino's F8 is a large 3-axis vertical machining center aimed at big parts and at large die and mold components. Its table measures 1,550 x 800 mm. Travels are 1,300 mm in X, 800 mm in Y and 650 mm in Z. The standard spindle is a CAT50 unit rated at 50 horsepower and 10,000 RPM, and an HSK-A100 taper is optional. For die and mold work, Makino lists an alternative configuration with a 20,000 RPM spindle in an HSK-A63 taper, paired with its SGI.5 servo control. Scale feedback and ballscrews with core cooling come as standard. Rapid traverse and cutting feed are both 24,000 mm/min. The largest part is 1,550 by 800 by 550 mm and 2,500 kg. The standard magazine holds 30 tools, and a larger magazine is listed as an option. Tools can measure up to 200 mm across and weigh up to 20 kg. Control is the Makino Professional 6, which runs on Windows CE and has a large color touch screen.
