What the maker publishes about the current Haas VF-2
A 30.00 in X stroke, a 16.00 in Y stroke and a 20.00 in Z stroke set the working envelope for the VF-2, a Haas VF Series vertical mill with three axes. Cutting torque comes from a direct-drive spindle mounted inline, rated at 30.0 hp and turning up to 8100 rpm. Torque measures 90.0 ft-lbf with the spindle at 2000 rpm, and the gearbox option brings the 450 rpm figure up to 250 ft-lbf. The spindle takes HSK-A63, CT40 or BT40 tooling. Twenty tools ride in a carousel changer, each up to 3.5 in across at full diameter and up to 12.0 lb. Measured chip to chip, a change averages 4.50 s. Its table, 14.0 in wide and 36.0 in long and cut with 3 T-slots, has a rated load of 3000 lb spread over the surface. Linear rapids are 1000 ipm, with feeds for cutting capped at 650 ipm. The spindle nose rides 4.0 in to 24.0 in over the table.
