The EC-3000 is a 50-taper machining center, and Haas lists its travels as 120 x 40 x 32 in (3048, 1016 and 813 mm) over a 120 x 36 in (3048 x 914 mm) table. The T-slot table is rated for parts as heavy as 10,000 lb (4536 kg). Spindle speed peaks at 6000 rpm, with two gear ranges and a vector system of 30 hp (22.4 kW) producing 450 ft-lb (610 Nm) for heavy cuts. The castings are large and made of cast iron, with internal ribs that add rigidity and damp vibration. A side-mount changer holding 30+1 tools, a remote jog handle, 1 MB of program memory and a second Home button the user can define are standard. In base form the machine has no enclosure, leaving the table open for big parts; the optional full enclosure brings dual chip augers, a 95 gallon (360 liter) coolant system, two wide doors, and a roof left open for loading by overhead crane.
