In the ZT series, Mori Seiki's ZT1000Y was a multi-axis turning center whose second headstock had 510 mm of travel. Its spindle speed range spanned 60 to 6,000 min-1, while an optional 80 to 8,000 min-1 range was listed, and the top of either range might not be usable with a given fixture and tool. Two X axes, No.1 and No.2, each cover 135 mm; Z covers 450 mm, and Y moves ±40 mm. The largest turning diameter is 190 mm, the standard one 170 mm. Twelve tool stations came as standard and 16 as an option, while rotary tools ran to 6,000 min-1, or to 8,000 min-1 when the optional speed was specified.

Mori Seiki's 2002 ZT page presents the ZT1000Y for working both faces of a part at once, using two independent spindles with 6 inch chucks and twin turrets on parts up to 190 mm across and 120 mm long.
