What the maker published about the DMG MORI SH-403
Mori Seiki classed the SH-403 as a horizontal machining center, part of its SH series, cutting parts on 400x400 mm pallets that each bear up to 500 kg. A part could swing 610 mm in diameter and stand 650 mm high; where the optional 3-station turn type APC was fitted, the swing limit dropped to 580 mm. On this layout the column slides 560 mm for X, the spindle head rises and lowers 510 mm for Y, and the table shifts 510 mm crosswise for Z. A 12,000 min-1 spindle came as standard, with a 20,000 min-1 spindle on the option list, though the clamp, fixture and cutter in use could stop it short of full speed. Its shank type is MAS BT-40, CAT-40 being the optional choice. The magazine has 40 tool positions as standard, while magazines with 60 or 120 positions were options.
