What the maker published about the Chevalier CG-1224A

An archived Chevalier Machinery page introduces the CG-1200 and CG-1400 series of universal cylindrical grinders, and the CG-1224A is the shortest bed of the first group. It swings 12.598 inches over the bed, grinds outside diameters up to 11.81 inches, and gives 23.6 inches of grinding length. The workhead turns at a stepless 25 to 350 rpm, swivels 90 degrees counterclockwise, and holds an M.T 4 center as either a dead or a live spindle. A 16 x 2 x 5 inch wheel runs at a standard 1650 rpm, with peripheral speed topping out at 6480 fpm. Infeed reaches 9.64 inches, the rapid advance and retract covers 1.77 inches, and the wheelhead swivels 30 degrees either way. On this model the table moves at 2 to 155 ipm and swivels 9 degrees in each direction. The automatic cycle grinds rough and fine, sparks out and retracts; an optional internal grinding attachment reaches bores from 0.787 to 4.330 inches, 3.150 inches deep. Rated power is 10HP, and the wheelhead motor is 5HP.
