Haas Automation's VR-8 belongs to the VR Series and is a 5-axis vertical machining center whose two rotary axes live in a gimbaled spindle head, while the part sits on a T-slot table. B tilts 120° each side of vertical at up to 112 °/sec, and C turns ±245° at up to 208 °/sec. Linear strokes measure 64.00 in (X), 40.00 in (Y) and 42.00 in (Z), and an 8" extended Z clearance is fitted as standard. Seven standard slots on 4.92 in centers cross the 64.0 by 36.0 in table, rated for 4000 lb spread evenly. A dual-support HSK-A63 spindle, built as an integral spindle and motor with liquid cooling, turns 20,000 rpm at a 29.0 hp rating and develops 20.0 ft-lbf at 7500 rpm. Tools load into a 50+1 side-mount changer averaging 2.80 s from one tool to the next. Axis rapids are 600 ipm. Wireless probing, a chip auger and a 95-gallon coolant tank are standard equipment.
