What the maker published about the Haas VF-0
The VF-0, headed VF-OB on Haas's archived product page, is a vertical machining center whose travels are 20, 16 and 20 in (508, 406 and 508 mm) along X, Y and Z. The maker says its cast-iron components are all American-made and that the design keeps changing on the production line as customer feedback comes in. It calls the VF-0 a small-footprint machine. The spindle is a 40-taper cartridge type, turned by a 20 hp motor, a Dual-Drive vector design wound for both wye and delta. Torque is 75 ft-lb at 1,200 rpm, a low speed, and the spindle can reach 7500 rpm within 5 seconds, a speed Haas ties to finish work in aluminum. The page also notes that many options came grouped in packages.
