2002 Haas HS-1RP
Metal Cutting
14 Haas HS-1RP listings have come through the used market we track: 7 marketplaces, built 1996–2002 where given.
Haas's archived product page places the HS-1RP in its line of horizontal machining centers. The machine has a built-in rotary 4th axis and two pallets, so an operator can load or unload one pallet while the other sits in the work envelope being cut. Travels are 24 x 20 x 22 in (610 x 508 x 559 mm). The page credits the saddle's closed torque-tube design with damping vibration and cutting deflection. Hardened-steel bearing trucks sit directly beneath the vertical casting walls for stiffness, the X-axis ballscrews run close to the spindle so thrust stays near the cutting load, and double-nut ballscrews are anchored to the castings in rigid housings. Haas says these machines can cut cast iron, alloy and stainless steels, and high-nickel alloys, and still run fast enough for aluminum.

Haas's 2003 page aims the HS-1RP at the job shop, pairing a built-in fourth axis with two pallets so the next job is set up on one while the other is being cut.
