What the maker published about the Haas EC-400PP

With the EC-400PP, Haas put a 400 mm twin-pallet system and an integrated six-pallet pool on a 40-taper horizontal mill. Travels form a 20" (508 mm) cube in X, Y and Z. Each pallet is 15.75" square and takes up to 1000 lb, and a pallet change takes 8 sec. As standard the pallets index in 1° steps; a full fourth axis is optional, and with it each pallet carries 660 lb. The inline direct-drive vector spindle makes 20 hp and 8000 rpm, with 75 ft-lb at 1400 rpm, and a 30 hp, 12000 rpm spindle is optional. The side-mount changer has 70+1 pockets for tools of up to 12 lb and 12" in length; diameter limits are 3" with every pocket full and 6" when adjacent pockets are empty. Rapid moves reach 1000 in/min, against a 500 in/min cutting limit. A belt-type chip conveyor, shower washdown, 300 psi coolant through the tool, a color remote jog handle and rigid tapping come with the base machine.

What the Haas EC-400PP is used for

Haas's 2006 release presents the EC-400PP as unattended machining for small and mid-sized plants: each of the six pallets can be scheduled by priority, so urgent parts are cut first or more often, and finished pallets return to storage or to a guarded load station.

When the Haas EC-400PP was built

Haas had introduced the EC-400PP by March 2006: its release, in an Internet Archive copy dated March 12, 2006, puts a six-station pallet pool on the EC-400.
