The QP 2040 is one of the QP vertical machining centers an archived capture of Chevalier Machinery's American pages presents, with a base and column of Meehanite cast iron set in a wide stance. The table is 47.2 by 20 inches with five T-slots and takes up to 1320lbs, and the spindle nose works from 5.9 to 26 inches above it, 23 inches out from the Z axis cover. Y travel is 20.86 inches and Z travel 20 inches. A 25HP dual winding motor, rated for 10 minutes, drives the spindle, and a direct drive spindle is an option. Two P4 NSK bearings, 2.76 inches across front and rear, carry the spindle, and the tool is held with 1870lbs of clamping force. Rapids are 945ipm in X and Y and 787ipm in Z, with cutting feeds of 0.04 to 394ipm. Every axis has a class C3 ballscrew 1.57 inches across, coupled directly to its servo motor. Positioning is given to JIS B6338 as ±0.00016 inch, with ±0.0001 inch repeat.
