In Chevalier's QP-L line of vertical machining centers, the QP2040-L sits between the QP2033-L and the QP2440-L. Its 1,200 x 510 mm table takes loads to 600 kg. Travel along X reaches 1,020 mm; along Z, 510 mm. Between spindle nose and table the gap runs from 130 to 640 mm, and the spindle center stands 585 mm out from the column. The #40 BIG PLUS spindle, 70 mm in diameter, turns 10,000 rpm on the belt drive or 12,000 rpm in direct drive form, and the direct drive can be raised to 15,000 rpm as an option. Rapids are 36 m/min in X and Y and 24 m/min in Z. A 24+1 arm-type changer swaps tools in 2 seconds, with a 30-tool arm as the option, and BT40 holders are standard.
