In the Tsugami SS series, the SS32 is the 32 mm opposed gang tool Swiss-type lathe organized around the Modular Tool Zone. Rotary tools, indexed holders and turning holders swap in and out of that zone as modules. Bar stock up to 32 mm feeds a sliding headstock that works through a guide bushing. Headstock stroke measures 320 mm. This machine does not convert to run without the guide bushing. It has 6 axes. Tool positions total 24 in standard form and 40 at most. Of those, 10 are live as standard, rising to 13. Main and sub spindles each span 200 to 8,000 rpm and can cut at the same time. A 3.7/5.5 kW motor drives the main spindle. Live tools turn at 5,000 rpm. The CNC is the FANUC 32i-B. The footprint is 2,020 × 1,675 × 2,020 mm, and weight is 3,400 kg. Listed options include thread whirling, polygon cutting and gear hobbing.
