Tsugami builds the B0386-III, a 6-axis Swiss-type automatic lathe with opposed gang tooling in its 38 mm class. Bar stock up to 38 mm feeds through the sliding headstock. With the guide bushing in place, headstock stroke is 320 mm. Taken out of the guide bushing and run as a chucker, it has a 70 mm stroke, and the conversion kit comes with the machine. Standard tool positions number 32, with 42 as the maximum. Live positions run from 15 standard to 26 at most. An 8-station driven block handles back working. Main spindle speed spans 200 to 6,000 rpm on a 7.5/11 kW motor. The sub spindle reaches 7,000 rpm, and live tools turn at 6,000 rpm. Rapid traverse is 32 m/min. For heavy cuts, the frame uses large linear guides, three-toggle clamping and extra ribs beneath both spindles. A FANUC 32i-B runs it, and part programs can be written in Tsugami's Abile software for the B0 Series. Weight is 4,850 kg.
