A three-axis 50-taper vertical mill, the VF-10/50 from Haas Automation covers 120" × 32" × 30" of travel in X, Y and Z. Its table matches the X stroke at 120.0 in long, measures 28.0 in across and has five T-slots on 4.92 in centers; a 4000 lb limit applies to an even load. Its spindle, CT or BT 50 tapered and liquid cooled, is rated 30.0 hp and 7500 rpm and runs through a 2-speed gearbox. Axis motors push with 3400 lbf on X, 4100 lbf on Y and 5600 lbf on Z. Rapid moves run 600 ipm on Y and Z but 360 ipm on X, which is also the cutting feed limit. The side-mount changer takes 30+1 tools, each up to 30 lb, and averages 4.2 s per swap. Rigid tapping and a chip auger come standard. On 220 VAC the machine draws 70 A at full load (35 A on 440 VAC), and air demand is 4 scfm at 100 psi.
