What the maker publishes about the current Haas TR210

Haas makes the TR210, a trunnion rotary table with two axes, which gives a vertical mill tilt and rotation for 3+2 work or full 5-axis cutting on parts of medium to large size. Haas lists it for VF Series mills from the VF-3 upward and strongly advises the extended Z-axis clearance option. Full operation needs 4th- and 5-axis drive on the mill plus a minimum version of the NGC software. The platter is 210 mm across with 6 T-slots at 60°, holds up to 200 lb and swings parts as large as 23.5 in. The A (tilt) axis indexes ±120° at up to 60 °/sec with 300 ft-lbf of continuous torque, and that axis carries scale feedback. The B (rotary) axis also turns at 60 °/sec, with 210 ft-lbf continuous torque and 0.0005 in maximum runout. On both axes the gear ratio is 90:1, backlash 30 arc-sec and resolution 0.001°. The unit weighs 750 lb and runs from the mill's own CNC through Sigma 7 servomotors.

What the Haas TR210 is used for

Haas pitches the TR210 as a way to add 4- and 5-axis work to an existing VF-3 or larger VF mill, sized for medium to large parts where its TR160 takes small to medium ones. Full use of both axes needs a mill with the 4th- and 5th-axis drives and NGC software at version 100.21.000.1130 or later.

What to check on a Haas TR210

• Control generation. The manufacturer specifies Direct Control by Mill CNC for this model. Units we have tracked run 2008 to 2023; an early one may carry an older control or a retrofit.
• Table. The manufacturer gives a table size of 210 mm (platter diameter) and a table load of 200 lb. Check the table and its T-slots for damage.
• Rigging and floor. The manufacturer gives a machine weight of 750 lb (the table unit (not the shipping weight)). Confirm the rigging route and the floor will take that.
