Haas builds the ST-15Y as a small Y-axis turning center in its ST Series; with its Y axis and driven tools it can mill, drill and tap as well as turn. Travel is 7.88 in on X, plus or minus 2.0 in on Y and 16.00 in on Z, and rapids are 472 ipm on X and Y and 1200 ipm on Z. The main spindle has an A2-6 nose and a 3.50 in bore, runs to 4000 rpm and is rated 20.0 hp, with 150.0 ft-lbf of torque at 500 rpm. An 8.3 in hydraulic chuck is standard, and bar capacity is 2.50 in. Part swing reaches 16.5 in. The 12-station BMT45 turret cuts diameters up to 11.00 in, and cutting length is 16.0 in, depending on workholding. Its live tools turn at up to 4000 rpm, and a C axis on the main spindle positions to 0.01 degrees. A sub-spindle rated to 6000 rpm is optional. The coolant tank holds 30 gal.
