What the maker published about the Haas DS-30
Haas built the DS-30 as a dual-spindle CNC lathe with a 12-station hybrid turret holding six VDI and six BOT tools. The main spindle pairs an A2-6 nose with a 3.50" bore, gets 30 hp (22.4 kW) from a vector drive and reaches 4000 rpm, with peak torque of 300 ft-lb at 500 rpm. The secondary spindle, an A2-5 unit rated 20 hp, also turns to 4000 rpm. Each spindle carries an 8.3" (210 mm) chuck, and the main bore admits 2.0" (51 mm) bar. Haas gives the cutting limits as 18.0" (457 mm) in diameter by 26" (660 mm) in length, under 31.75" (806 mm) of swing over the front apron. X provides 12.5" of movement and Z 26", both at 945 in/min in rapid. Rigid tapping, a USB port, a memory lock keyswitch and a 15" color LCD are standard. Up to 55 gal of coolant fits in the tank.
