Both work spindles on the NL1500SY/500 share one rating, 6,000 min-1, and Mori Seiki listed 8,000 min-1 for each of them as an optional upgrade. The second spindle can shift 624 mm along its B axis. In the NL1500 lathe range, the Japanese heading labels this model a Y axis turning center that works both faces of a part in one continuous sequence. Its Y slide strokes 100 mm, or 50 mm each way from the centerline, while X has a 260 mm stroke against 590 mm for Z. Diameters top out at 356 mm, 260 mm being the standard figure, and turned length at 515 mm. Twelve tools load onto the turret, whose powered tools are capped at 6,000 min-1. Jigs and tooling, says a note beneath the figures, can keep a spindle from its rated speed.
