Mori Seiki built the CV-500A, one of its CV series vertical machining centers, and gave all three linear axes a single stroke figure: 510 mm (20.1 in.). X came from the saddle moving lengthwise, Y from the column moving crosswise, and Z from the spindle head going up and down. Its working table measures 750x550 mm and carries loads up to 350 kg. Spindle rotation peaked at 8,000 min-1 on the standard build; choosing the faster optional spindle raised that to 12,000 min-1. Mori Seiki cautioned that a particular clamp, fixture or tool might keep a job below that ceiling. Holders take the MAS BT-40 shank, or CAT-40 as an option, and the magazine stores 25 of them.

Mori Seiki's 2002 product guide presents the CV series, with the CV-500A as its listed model, as vertical machining centers that run at high speeds and adapt to many kinds of production work.
