Chevalier Machinery described the FCL-1028 as a 10 x 28 inch slant-bed CNC lathe with FANUC control and digital spindle and axis drives. Its 45 degree base carries linear guideways on X and Z, and the FANUC AC servo motors drive pretensioned, hardened and ground ball screws directly. Swing over the Z cover is 23.6 inches; the largest cutting diameter is 17.7 inches and the longest cutting length 27.5 inches. Its spindle, with an A2-8 nose, is driven at 30 HP; bar capacity is 3.031 inches, and a 10 inch power chuck holds the work. Axis travel is 30 inches in Z and 9.44 inches in X, with rapids of 787 ipm in X and 945 ipm in Z. A hydraulic turret holds 10 tools and indexes to the next station in 0.3 seconds, or 1.3 seconds for a 180 degree turn. The maker gives the footprint as 142 x 71 inches, compact enough for automated cells, and the weight as 11,000 lbs.
