Jason Puuri is the owner of Superior Machine & Tool, Inc., an industrial machinery and asset recovery company at 1301 Sunset Avenue in Lansing, Michigan. He is listed as the company's president on its active federal contractor registration.
Superior Machine & Tool was founded in Lansing in 2012 and built its business around a tool buyback program, purchasing excess and obsolete cutting tool inventory from manufacturers. That program remains the core of the business. The company grew from there into full scale asset recovery, surplus machinery resale, line and cell decommissioning, and Tier 1 distribution.
In May 2026, Superior Machine & Tool launched Machine Tool Exchange to buy used and surplus CNC and metalworking machinery directly from the companies that own it. Announcing the launch, Puuri said: "Machine Tool Exchange is the natural evolution of what we started. We saw that manufacturers needed a more streamlined, expert-led way to trade heavy machinery, and we built it to be that solution."
At Machine Tool Exchange he leads acquisition personally and sets final pricing on the machines the company buys, so the number a seller receives comes from the person who decides it rather than from a representative relaying it. MTE buys CNC lathes, vertical and horizontal machining centers, turning centers, five axis machines, gear machinery, multi tasking machines and laser cutting equipment from manufacturers, machine shops and plant closures nationwide, and handles evaluation, logistics and paperwork as part of the purchase. Sellers come from aerospace and defense, automotive, general manufacturing, mining and minerals, oil and gas, and primary metal manufacturing.
