The NHX 4000 is a horizontal machining center from the DMG MORI NHX Series, now in its 4th Generation. Its axes travel 22 in. on X, 22 in. on Y and 26 in. on Z. A workpiece may reach 24.8 in. in diameter and 35.4 in. in height, and weigh up to 881.8 lbs. DMG MORI fits its speedMASTER spindle as standard, rated at 20,000 rpm on a 400 V specification. Feed drives reach 70,000 mm/min, and acceleration goes up to 1.2 g. The bed rests on three support points, and its X-axis guideways are stepped. Stainless steel covers are standard, and a ceiling shower coolant system with a motor-driven nozzle is an option. The control is either SIEMENS or MAPPS on Fanuc. Hydraulic and pneumatic interfaces for automation are optional, and the machine links to pallet handling, tool handling and robot systems. A tool visualizer that measures tools automatically is also on the option list.
