What the maker publishes about the current Haas EC-400
Haas places the EC-400 among its 40-taper horizontal mills, and the machine works in 4 axes. A pallet changer is part of the base machine and carries 400 mm pallets. Those pallets do not interchange with the ones used by the earlier generation of the EC-400. The fourth axis is a full rotary system, and it supports synchronous motion. Spindle speed is given as 8.1k RPM. The standard side-mount changer has 30+1 positions. As options, the changer grows to 160+1, 100+1 or 50+1 tools. The machine also takes an optional 6-station pallet pool. The present EC-400 is a redesign that Haas calls all-new.
